I&#8217;m taking every opportunity to explore this part of the world. Totally unrideable on a bicycle. Sandy sections of trail that we probably\u00a0passable\u00a0a few weeks ago had deteriorated in the dry conditions, becoming extremely loose and again,\u00a0not pedalable. Urgh. It was VERY\u00a0hard work, and\u00a0the hard work got harder as the temperature\u00a0rose towards 30c.. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1736 aligncenter\" title=\"owen-springs-5\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-5.jpg\" alt=\"owen-springs-5\" width=\"453\" height=\"604\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-5.jpg 453w, https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-5-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 453px) 85vw, 453px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rode through the &#8216;Haunted Bore&#8217; without being hassled by any &#8216;Mamu&#8217; (ghosts).\u00a0Stopped at the old Owen Springs Homestead for a bit of lunch and a quick break before moving on..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1737 aligncenter\" title=\"owen-springs-6\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-6.jpg\" alt=\"owen-springs-6\" width=\"483\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-6.jpg 604w, https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-6-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 85vw, 483px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1739 aligncenter\" title=\"owen-springs-71\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-71.jpg\" alt=\"owen-springs-71\" width=\"483\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-71.jpg 604w, https:\/\/www.bottlesandchains.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/owen-springs-71-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 85vw, 483px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 4WD trail steadily improved as I rode up and out of Lawrence Gorge and away from the river, but it was still pretty badly corrigated and by the 40km mark my wrists were starting to go numb and my arms were feeling itchy from the road vibrations. Made it to the Rangers Station within 3 hours and through to the roadside to meet Mish by 3.10 hours. Felt ok and hadn&#8217;t withered up in the heat. Summer is definately on it&#8217;s way but\u00a0I should have enough time to complete another few remote\u00a0area missions.
