This overnight mission will follow some of the south’s lesser known backroads in an attempt to evade authorities and angry wives.. The route as is stands in my minds eye? Well..
Hobart – Fern Tree – Neika – Longley (beer and swim stop) – Sandfly – Kaoota – Pelverata – Upper Woodstock – Woodstock – Cradoc – Glaziers Bay – Lower Wattle Grove – Petcheys Bay – Lymington – Cynget (beer, counter meal and pick up a carton or two) – Deep Bay – Ables Bay – Eggs and Bacon Bay (Camp, swim, consume beer, sing sea-shanties and throw rocks at Possums) – Deep Bay – Gardeners Bay – Woodbridge (civilised coffee stop) – Kettering – Coningham (swim action) – Snug – Margate – Peter Murrell Reserve – Blackmans Bay – Kingston Beach (beer stop) – Taroona – Hobart.
Total distance? 247783kms give or take a bit.. would have been more exact if bloody www.bikely.com was working properly..
You’ll need to pack the following:

x 1 – Sleeping Bag.
x 1 – Stubbie Cooler.
x 1 – Dinner Jacket.

Hopefully my tent and thermarest arrive in time. Panniers have been located, rack will be installed. Cross levers will be removed to facilitate better haulage and braking performance. All is go.

The ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ ride is officially unsupported. You’ll need to carry all your own kit. Pack a tent, sleeping bag, bathers and a small amount of tucker! …I have a small 2 man tent for loan if anyone needs it.
Personally, I’m going ‘cold’ camp (stove/trangia-less) and packing only mueslie bars to tide me over. There are plenty of pubs/cafes on the way to eat/purchase lunch/dinner/breakfast at! I will be toting a billy along and I’ll be braving the cold sthn waters in my bathers to try and score some mussels to cook up on the fire..
There has been a change of homeward route.. We’ll be rockin’ the Coast Road on the way back.
