Vigilante Fuckwit Warning

Ben posted this on the BnC Facebook group earlier today, and it definitely needs to be spread around. Let us know if anyone has more info, and it could be worth telling the cops.

TRACK OBSTICLE WARNING…. tracks below huon road have been covered in logs, I cam across the arse responsible wearing a ZENITH uniform doing it this morning, he was a touch threatening so i left quickly knocking as many down as i could see….. Be careful people!

Skills To Pay Bills

Edit: Tim beat me to the punch, whoops.

Trials riding, as a general rule, is bloody nuts. Seriously skilled kids doing some bloody amazing bike handling, it’s usually enough to impress even those who don’t ride bikes. Ross sent me through this amazing video of Danny MacAskill riding around in Edinburgh and taking the most intense lines. I’ve always been a little slack-jawed over Ryan Leech’s sections in various videos, but this is off tap. Check it out for yourself…

The Ride Journal

I recently subscribed to The Ride Journal having heard about it on a podcast from The Bike Show .
The latest edition has just arrived and what a treat, I have not seen such quality and varied writing and photos since BIke Culture Quarterly bit the dust in 2000. Amazing photos and great reading from bmx to cyclocross to audax to history. Simply a classy and wonderful bike publication that you should not miss. It’s more a large format paperback book than magazine.
Check it out.
Once I have read it all I am very willing to lend it out.

Hobart – Tokyo – New York – LONDON

Fashionable Dave

Thanks to the deviates over at HoP I somehow found myself on the website of some trendy London magazine looking at a fashion spread…riiiiight. All seems as it should be until the images actually load and a strangely familiar face appear. That’s right, (not-so-)resident BnC possum lover, world-traveller and former Hobart messenger Dave ‘Possum’ McCaig, filling the square frame of a medium format portrait decked out in some kind of street wear that must in some way be deemed cool by someone (obviously). Will wonders never cease!? As far as I can recall, Dave’s greatest contribution to fashion was riding around in tight black jeans with worm our bums from too much riding. God help us if that suddenly becomes fashionable! He also once borrowed a hoody from me I think, so I guess that’s got to count for something. Now all of a sudden he’s gracing the pages of fashion shoots with assorted urban types and having things written about him such as ‘David wears: Jacket Element‘.

I can only guess he’s been dragged into the fast paced world of fashion, drugs, bicycles and rehab by his brother Ryan who got so famous that some guys made a t-shirt about him. Let’s hope he sticks with his well-earned nickname of ‘Sipsy McCaig’ and doesn’t all of a sudden find himself in the gutter with a face full of white power next to a 17 year old stripper, although he probably wouldn’t have any complaints.

I guess that in the same way that beating a guy who beat some other guy made Andy a world champion, and beating some other guy who rode in some race made Ben, well…something, I guess Dave being in a fashion shoot in turns makes all of us sexy motherfuckers. You know it.

Cobbles, fk yeah!

I love dirt. I love mud, ..mud fkn rocks. I love ‘cross too, but even more, I love watching roadies mashing carbon fibre uber bikes over mud strewn cobbles.. yeah, the Paris Roubaix is the shit.  With sections carrying  names like ‘Road to the Slaughterhouse’, how could it be anything but good. Queen of the classics is correct. Phil Liggett talking the talk.. “Hammering opponents all the time, hoping you’ve got enough for the pave at the end”.. so rad. Go Phil, go. Boonen on the go (literally?)..  Taswegian boy Wesley Sulzberger smashing it up with the lead group, awesome.. All awesome. Hats off to SBS for showing it.

bnc-paris-roubaix-09

..and just to plug.. Did you know that a BnC teamster beat Roubaix rider Matt Goss on the track 09? True. BnC world beaters, just like our Andy eh?
