Ok, so I’m a tad into ‘adventure’ biking. Fk, well you know I love Surly’s and any ride (bike or destination) out of the ordinary is fully my bag. Imagine the Correy Brothers stole Dave Killicks kayak and were marooned on Macquarie Island with bikes. Yep. Thats what THIS is.
(p.s. – they’re riding singlespeed. fixed next trip)
ben, you are one timely legend. I’ve been wallowing in a bog of not much on the horizon for a couple of months cos of taking on too much work/study, and you put this shit up which just blows my mind, makes me look at the map of tassie on the wall and the mind goes manic on the fact that asap I’m gettin an adventure bike, and asap I’m hittin somewhere snowy with it! fuck yeahhhh
Want to take your board? Have four ‘mini-mission’ suggestions, 1). across the Dunbabins property and up to Hellfire Bluff (spots there need a sourtherly swell), 2). across the Bangor property at Dunally, out past the Yard and towards the Tasman Monument (north-east swell), 3). Cockle Creek around the coast to Widowmaker (southerly) or 4). Ida Bay, along the former trainline, Tombstones, The Lagoon, Peashooters, Blackswan Lagoon and back around the coast to the Pigsty Bridge and out. Last mission would be the one I’d choose. Pics when completed Mr Correy.
Yep, I’ll do em asap, will get video as well.
Have one in the works which involves bikes, skis, whitewater kayaks, sea kayaks and surfboards.
Start at oystercove, load up seakayaks with bikes skis and boards, with white water boat behind, bust a groove down the channel to dover, leave the seakayaks, hitch the whitewater boats behind the bikes on imporvised golf buggy wheels, bust up to the top of the esperance river, paddle it and do a few runs around the place on the bikes, then leave bikes and boats and lug the skiis and surfboards up onto the southern ranges, get some turns in around pindars peak, then bash down to suprise bay (hell), get some big walls there, smash over the south cape range and get barrels at you know where, then run back to the boats and paddle back to hobart just in time for the August critical mass. Anyone keen?
Sounds awesome. I’d actually be super keen, had I the gear or time. Damn you 9-5!
